Our Story.

The Face Behind Chéngers

Chengers is a local, minority-owned Greensboro small business founded by kinesiologist Trina Pratt (Dr. P). Trina had her son, Ché, while she was making her way through a rigorous doctoral program. She, like most parents, initially fed him store-bought baby food, but was concerned when it became a struggle to get him to eat. Dr. P started looking into what those baby foods actually contained and was horrified by the heavy metals and unpronounceable ingredients.

From that moment on she was on a mission to find a better, healthier solution – even if it was a much more labor-intensive, time-consuming process. Through trial and error, she developed and perfected superfood baby foods that met the dietary and health needs of her son and soon shared what she learned with other Greensboro parents.

In the years since, Dr. P has brought on Chef Denzell to help her expand on her initial mission by adding soups, smoothies and juices formulated for nutritional richness and unparalleled taste. We’ve developed a host of products that are ideal for people with food allergies, diabetes or other conditions that force them to carefully regulate what goes into their bodies.

These superfoods are also ideal for anyone who wants to minimize their intake of sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and unpronounceable mystery additives and ingredients.

Why We Do What We Do

"I wasted a lot of money buying baby food from the grocery stores. He simply would not eat it and just did not like it. I became concerned and began researching foods. We needed something that was not only good for his growing body but tasted good as well. I soon realized that the taste wasn’t the only problem. The store bought brands were loaded with preservatives and other ingredients, detrimental to a child’s development.

I noticed that my super foods were actually creating a super kid. I thought that there would be many parents who would want to enhance their child’s growth."
